What is Zumba Fitness

I wanna share this good exercise that I am doing, it is my third day today of doing zumba and it is very beneficial to me because I noticed that after every session of Zumba, I felt relaxed and the sweating makes my skin feeling smoothed and toned. I wanna make this exercise a habit at least 1 hour a day. I am really very lazy to do some exercises, but Zumba is really fun so I challenge myself to do it. I love it! What is Zumba?

Zumba is the largest dance fitness program in the world, based on a Latin-inspired dance fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez in Colombia during the 1990s. Zumba involves dance and aerobics elements. Zumba’s choreography incorporateship-hop, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves. Squats and  lunges are also included

How Zumba fitness started?

Sometimes great ideas are born from accidents. In the mid-’90s, no one could have predicted the success of the Zumba®program, not even Alberto “Beto” Perez, who created the Zumba experience, after what many have called a true “happy accident.”

As a fitness instructor in his native Cali, Colombia, Beto’s life took an unexpected turn one fateful day in the mid-’90s when he darted off to teach an aerobics class and forgot his traditional aerobics music. He improvised using his own mix of music from tapes he had in his backpack (salsa and merengue music he grew up with). Spontaneously he created a new kind of dance-fitness, one that focused on letting the music move you (instead of counting reps over the music). Energy electrified the room; people couldn’t stop smiling. His class loved it! And on that day, a revolutionary new fitness concept was born – the Zumba® Fitness-Party.

    Before, I didn’t like it because it is more of dance (not much of a dancer, haha) but now I think it is okay. We do it often at the locale, “Zumba addicts” hehe! Do you know the other workout – “Insanity”?

    Hehe, yup it is! I want to jog also but I do not have much time. I need a treadmill! hehe

    Maybe we should improvise then, hehe. How about jogging in place, not too exciting though but I hope it will work. Hehe!

    I will do jogging God willing, my attire is already complete lol, I should tell Adidas that they should sponsor me because i bought a lot from one of their stores today lol

    Didn’t like this workout either at first. But I guess it’s just a matter of getting used to it.

    @beverly at first by just looking at it i really dont like it too, i go back to it after a year hahahha then i follow the steps and thats the time, that i was able to appreciate it and its really cool.

    That’s true. You won’t like it until you tried it. I like the Insanity workout better. You’ll go insanely tired afterwards. Hehehe.

    I was trying to do Beach Body’s “Insanity” for a week. The problem was that due to my fitness level, I incur a very sharp back pain. I know it was not just muscle pain. I always had muscle pain whenever I go to the gym, or play basketball. But this is different. Our Kuya Jok told me that I am hastily rushing to be fit. He told me to start with the basics, and he told me to start everything with Zumba. I joined them and I am happy. Not only did I finished the 30 minute Zumba, which I can’t doing the “Insanity”. I finished 2 sessions with Ab ripper. Thanks Kuya Jok, and thanks to the support of the Philippians Fitness. Thanks also to this post Ate Mely.

    @ Mely: We can synchronize, hehe! We are trying to get ready for the much awaited Unity Run – we are very excited! We hope we can finish the 5K! Whew!!!

    I encouraged my co-workers to try Zumba to be fit and healthy. I gave their CD copy today, they were very excited :). I hope they will like it too.

    I just did my first 5K jog last night in 50+ minutes. Thanks be to God I finished it! It feels really, really, really good! At first I wanted to stop when I reached 10 minutes because I was so tired and was already sleepy. But I kept thinking that I have to make it to the finish line…my goal…my dream. Thanks be to God for everything! :)

    I did my 5k jog last night in 63 minutes. I thought I would not be able to finish. It was slow but the important thing is, I made it with God’s help and mercy. Thanks be to God.

    this is a BIG MOVER!!! tried once with my hubby! fun and healthy way of bonding together! now, i’m just waiting for my complete Zumba copy! sa XBOX lang kc kami nag Zumba na download lang ng aming dear son…ahaha!

    aww I love Zumba Dance,though im not good at dancing! LOL..its a good form of exercise :)
